PULCO POSTS: Undersea Adventure

UAI’m looking back at some of the albums that I’ve made over the years. Todays choice is ‘Undersea Adventure’

UA was always the companion album to Wengen as they were recorded one after the other in the same attic space.

Most of the music was recorded in 2004 with the rest being finished in early 2005 just before we up sticks and moved to North Wales.

I got it into my head that it would be a great idea to give the album a sea related theme. I loved James Bond and Captain Nemo as a kid and there were other contemporary influences on the album too like the Kursk Russian submarine disaster.

On the first track, ‘Haul Away’ I created the sound of a spooky fog filled harbour by moaning a lot and recording the sound of splashing water in a bucket. I dragged stuff around and kept the neighbours awake. Ifan’s toys were employed again as the sounds were often the starting points for song ideas.

In 2006 I signed to Folkwit Records in Nottingham and Undersea Adventure was the first proper Pulco release.

‘Love Of The Ocean’ was a popular song for me at the time and it also got me a publishing deal in Argentina !!

I never saw any money from it however but it was an interesting diversion for a while.

Anyhow, have a listen for yourself and let me know what you think of the tunes.
